What is "Verified by Visa" and "MasterCard SecureCode"?

To further increase your security when shopping online, Salonskincare.com is now introducing the Verified by Visa (VbV) and Mastercard SecureCode security programme.  VbV and SecureCode allow you to create your own personal password - comparable to the "Chip and Pin" system - to be used as an extra security measure for your online payments.

Please check the Visa or MasterCard websites for more details or phone your bank for more information and assistance.

At this current stage, the system is only used for Maestro (formerly Switch) transactions, however we will shortly expand it to include Mastecard and Visa transactions.

How does "Verified by Visa" or "MasterCard SecureCode" work?

Please note: This is currently only applicable to Maestro (Switch) transactions.

Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard SecureCode is simple to use and ads another level of security to the online payment process.
  • Please shop and enter your credit card information at checkout as usual.
  • After confirming your order on the Confirmation Page, you will be forwarded to a website of your card issuing bank, if they have already joined the VbV/SecureCode initiative.
  • If you have not yet registered your card with the scheme, you can do so by following the instructions on this page.
  • If your card is already registered with VbV or SecureCode, you should check your 'personal assurance message' to make sure that it's really your issuing bank requesting the information.
  • Enter you password and follow the instructions to proceed.  This will then bring you back to salonskincare.com, and if the card was authorised,  we will acknowledge the receipt of your order.
Please don't close the browser window or enter another URL (Internet Address) until you've been sent back to Salonskincare.com and the receipt of your order has been confirmed.

On checkout the error "Authorisation declined by bank" is being displayed. I'm sure everything fine with my card.

You card issuing bank did not authorise this transaction.

This can be due to a number of factors:
1) There are insufficient funds on the card.
2) The transaction is for a high or unusual value and the bank require confirmation.
3) The card has been reported lost or stolen.
4) The card number is incorrect, the expiry date is invalid or the account is closed.

The banks do not inform us of the actual reason as to why they are declining the transaction.

Normally transactions are declined for the first two reasons.
Please try submitting your order again. Make sure you've entered the right information, including the correct expiry date.

On checkout the error "Transaction not authorized due to AVS CV2 verification failure" is being displayed.

Either you haven't entered the correct security number (the last three digits on the signature strip on the back of your card), or the postcode or address of your Billing Address don't match the address your credit card statements are being sent to. Please make sure you enter the correct billing address.

I get this error when logging into the site: "Security failure, data decryption error"

This is a common error, occurring when you're using Internet Explorer on a Mac. Please note that Microsoft has discontinued the support for Internet Explorer on the Mac platform in 2003. This browser is very much outdated and doesn't support our high security standards.

Please use a more recent browser, such as Firefox, Safari or Camino.

What does the checkout error "Couldn't create a transaction (VRTXDupTxAmountMismatch)" mean?

This is due to a very rare connection error. Your card has not been charged.
Please enter your credit card details and submit your order again. This will solve the problem in most cases.

How can I get an update on the status of my order?
